Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where are you located?
We are located at a cute little shopfront at the border of Randwick and Kingsford, in 243 Botany Street, Kingsford.

2. Is it easy to get to your venue by public transport?

Really easy. The nearest bus stop is 50m from the shop on Anzac Parade, with buses going every 10-15 minutes straight to the city, and lots of buses going to different locations in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Inner west, South, etc.

3. Is there parking?

There is ample street parking, and also a five minute drop off point right in front of the shop (and no steps to tackle) for less mobile people.

4. Is there a minimum number required to book our hens night party with you?

Yes. We require a booking of a minimum of 8 participants to maintain the advertised pricing. If you are a smaller group, you can still book, but will need to pay the equivalent of 8 participants for the class.

5. How many people can you accommodate?

We are a small venue and can accommodate between 8 to 20 participants, depending on the type of workshop booked. If your group is larger, please contact us, and we may be able to come to your venue or home in the Eastern Suburbs, CBD or Inner West (a travel fee may apply, depending on location and number of participants).

6. Can men come, too?

Of course!!!! Whether there is just the token male, or you are an all men's group, we are happy to accommodate you and adjust the workshop content accordingly. Either way, men are always welcome here at MAKEandLEARN.

7. Can we bring food and drink?

We will supply tea, coffee and biscuits as part of the package price. However, you are welcome to bring your own champagne, cake and (not-to-messy) finger foods if you would like to.

8. How long do your workshops usually take?

Between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, depending on the workshop. However, we are available for all day bookings, too, if you wanted to make a day of it and tackle a larger, more involved project. Just contact us for pricing and package options.

9. Are the advertised workshops the only options?

No, we can organize different activities such as aromatherapy classes, jewellery making, hand embroidery and beading, and much more. We will need some notice to make sure a teacher is available for your class on the date required. Drop us a line or give us a call to let us know what you would like to learn, and we can discuss options.

10. Does it have to be a hens party, or can we just book as a group of friends?

You don't have to get married to party at MAKEandLEARN. Any occasion and non-occasion is perfect for booking a morning, afternoon or evening of creative fun.

11. What days of the week/times of the day can we book our party?

As long as we have availability (there are no concurrent classes running) you can book any weeknight, or weekend morning, afternoon or evening.

12. How do I pay?

You can pay cash or via bank deposit. A non-refundable deposit of the minimum class fee for 8 participants is required at the time of booking to secure your spot, with the difference for any additional participants required a week before the date of the party to allow us to organize supplies.

13. Can you recommend places to go before or after our party at MAKEandLEARN?

Our favourite is "The Spot" in Randwick, which is only a couple of minutes by car from our location. There are lots of different restaurants (from Thai, to Indian, Japanese, Seafood and French) and tapas bars and cafes open late for dinner and drinks. You could move on down to Coogee for a few drinks and a dance at the Coogee Bay Hotel or Palace Hotel.

There are also lots of inexpensive Asian restaurants in Kingsford and Kensington, within walking distance from our shop, as well as the South Juniors Club a few minutes walk away.

Did we mention that the bus stop is only 50 metres from our place, with frequent buses going directly to the city at all hours of the day?
